Sally Sharp

Sally Ursula Robinson Sharp, 83, (Wife of Brian Wells),  passed away May 22, 2023, at North Memorial Hospital, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Visitation with the family will be on June 10 from 1:00 to 2:00 at Kolden Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 2:00.

Sally was born May 18, 1940 to Vernon Robinson, Sr. and Lucia Harper in the city of Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from the Western Public School in Baltimore in 1958, along with life-long friends the late Linda Onnen (Killmeyer) and Judith Bernstein (Miller). Following her high school graduation from Western, she attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, graduating with a bachelors of science in political science in 1962. She then received her master's degree in economics from Penn State University in University Park, Pennsylvania in 1963.

Sally was part of the first class of the newly founded Peace Corps in 1964, serving three years in the Dominican Republic. During this time, she met and married her first husband Max Sharp. Her Peace Corps time was just the beginning of a 33 year career in foreign service, working for the United States Agency for International Development (A.I.D.)  Her work took her to countries including Senegal, Mali, Guinea-Conakry, Mauritania, and the Ivory Coast, where she learned to speak French at the negotiation level. She officially retired in December 1997, but went back into service and was stationed this time primarily in Burkina Faso.

Sally is preceded in death by her first husband Max, by her brothers Ben Jr., John (Jack), and Roddie, and by her sister Leslie. She is survived by her husband Brian Wayne Wells, and sisters Zoe Cartwell, Grace Elizabeth, and Linda.
